Now, this man was not brilliant by any stretch of the imagination. Oh, far, far from it. He was what one might call... 'thick headed,' yes? Dense.
But stubborn as a rock. And powerful. Nary a human existed that could outfight this man, one-on-one. One might be pressed to say even Mazoku could come to respect such a power.
And, there was a woman.
This woman, too, was strong. Able to tap into one particular power of nigh-infinite strength, in fact.
Yet, the man protected her.
Why?
Love? Brotherly affection? A sense of honor and duty? It could be any one of those, or maybe a thousand other reasons.
Regardless, it didn't change what was what. An unrelenting, unwavering feeling - that human trait known as devotion.
As said, the man was stubborn. Relentlessly so, unflinchingly taking on tasks few other mere mortals would even dare THINK about.
And then, there came a time... A time in which, in order to safeguard this man, the woman called upon that power I mentioned.
And God descended.
The woman was taken in place of this man's life.
Such a tragic tale, yes? By all rights, that should be the end.
